Solar eclipse: the First eclipse of 2023

A solar eclipse happens when, at just the right moment, the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth. Solar eclipses occur when the Sun & Moon are at one of these points ie Lunar North node and Lunar south node, giving rise to the understanding of swallowing of the Sun and the Moon by the snake. Rahu and Ketu are described as a snake in Vedic astrology and also treated as the same in Vedic scripts.

Astrological event of eclipse

When Sun and moon are at the exact degree as of Rahu in the same Rashi, this event is seen in the constellation. And when Moon crosses over that degree, Eclipse period gets over.

Mythological story:

Without going into detail of the story, only summarize here, during the time of Samudra Manthan[Churning of Ocean], when Nectar was being distributed among the Deities[Devatas], the Demon named Swarbhanu disguised himself as a Deity and got the nectar in disguise and also drank it. Sun and Moon informed this incident to Mohini, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. As swarbhanu deviated the order and also took the help of magic to disguise, Lord Vishnu separated the head from the body of Swarbhanu using Sudarshan chakra. But this was not any justice to the demon. Since Sun and moon, these two Gods made his secret out, the detached Head[Rahu] and detached Body/tail[Ketu] became the enemies of Sun and Moon. Later Lord Shiva for the justice for Swarbhanu, blessed Rahu to take revenge from both Sun and Moon by eclipsing them for certain time period on regular interval. Also, to keep the balance of creations, eclipse will be for a short period not as a permanent.

Solar eclipse will start from 07:04 am and end at 12:29 pm in India.

Sat, Oct 14, 2023 at 11:55 am TO Sat, Oct 14, 2023 at 2:25 pm in Canada. But Solar eclipse will not be visible to Canada, for normal people Sutak will not be applicable. But the people who are into spiritual practice or occult practitioners, should follow the sutak timing. Sutak is not applicable for kids,old and sick people. But the pregnant women or who are soon to deliver should avoid to going outside in the period.

Effects on different Rashis:

This Solar eclipse is harmful for Aries and Libra, so people of these Rashis of all the countries, should avoid looking at the eclipse in the sky, either through naked eyes or through telescopes.This is equally harmful for Leo and Sagittarius as well.
